The Wilmington Recreational Soccer League season begins this Spring 2023 for age groups – Under-8, and Under-10, with practices beginning March 20, 2023 and includes 6 game days!
Starting in the Spring of 2023 Sporting Delaware, in partnership with Future Soccer Stars Foundation (FSS) will provide a community-based youth soccer recreational league for northern Delaware. The recreational league will look to build a fun environment for players to develop technical, physical and social skills through soccer. Sporting Delaware and FSS are focused on player development, and from U8 through U10 there will be no standings, win-loss tracking, or playoffs.
Volunteers play a key part in the success of the recreational league. Please consider donating your time by signing up to be a volunteer coach. Each team should have 2 coaches to help with any potential scheduling conflicts. Sporting Delaware and FSS will provide coaching education resources throughout the season. Each coach will have to go through a background check, SafeSport Certification and Concussion training per the Delaware Youth Soccer Association.

Registration Fee & Age Group Assignments:
Players are placed on teams by birth year based on the chart below.
Division | Registration Fee |
U8 2015/2016 Boys/Girls | $115 |
U10 2013/2014 Boys/Girls | $115 |
Divisional Information:
Under 8 (2015-2016): 4 on the field at a time – NO GOALIES (4v4). Max Roster of 8
We offer a coed division for both boys and girls. Players begin to understand positions on the field and continue to work on dribbling and shooting. Passing become more important at this level as the field size increases. All out of bounds restarts will start with a kick-in. A referee is assigned to each game to manage the game. Coaches run practice one night each week starting at this division. Games consist of 4, 10 minute quarters with 5 minutes for warmup, 3 minutes in between periods, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.
Under 10 (2013-2014): 6 on the field plus one goalie (7v7). Max Roster of 12
We offer both Boys and Girls divisions. Goalies and throw-ins are introduced. A referee is assigned to each game to manage the game. Coaches run one practice each week. Games consist of two 25 minute halves with 5 minutes for warmup, 5 minutes for half time, and 5 minutes to clean-up after the game.
Playing Expectations
Every player is expected to play 50% of every game unless by their own choice or a parent’s request. We do our best to keep team sizes limited to guarantee that every player can get 50% playing time. We also have about 10-15% of registrations after the late fee date starts, so this can be a significant number of players in a division.
